Until about 20 hours before this show, I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to play or how it would hold together. I think up until now I’ve subbed for just 1 hour of Blues programming, and any time I do a new genre I get a little nervous. Especially during a fund drive show, when I don’t want to piss off any of the show’s regular listeners!
I think I did OK – I tried to focus mostly on 2016 releases (as you can see by recent archives, that seems to be where my mind is oriented these days), though I mixed it up a bit during hour two (a couple of Popa Chubby tracks to help promote his show tonight at Payomet Performing Arts Center in Truro and a few Captain Beefheart tracks because … well, because … CAPTAIN BEEFHEART!)
Big thanks to those who listened live, those who donated during the show, and especially he show’s regular host, Steve Morgan. Apparently Steve can’t do the show two weeks from now (August 18), and I had a fun time today, so I’ve signed up for that one, too.
While the fund drive at the station is basically over now, we’ll still take donations for Steve Morgan’s Blues Cruise, my regular show The Omnipop Omnibus, or any other show on WOMR – you can donate online or call 508-487-2619 or 800-921-9667. As I type this, the dream offer and naming rights offers still stand for donations to the Omnipop Omnibus – just tell the person who answers the phone at WOMR or email me the details.
